Whenever I book a portrait session I always get asked “What should I wear?”  I always answer that you want to look like yourself, but you want to look like your best self!  Portrait sessions are the best time to go out and get your hair/makeup done – if you feel beautiful you exude beauty!  You also want to be comfortable in what you are wearing, because then you will more likely feel free to be at ease in front of the camera.  It is important to accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!  Hats, jewelry, scarves, gloves, layering.  All of these things add visual interest to your photos.

I bought myself a new cloche this holiday season and everytime I wear it I look in the mirror and think “This would be PERFECT for a session!”  The feathers bring texture AND pops of color.  I thought I’d share an image with you – I wore it today and took some shots!

Well, now that christmas is almost here I guess It’s about time I share a picture from our Thanksgiving huh?  We didn’t go home for Thanksgiving this year.  My sister in law came and stayed with us for the week and we had thanksgiving linner just us three.  We watched the parade and the dogshow and sat around and chowed down.  Here are some shots of some of the deliciousness that went down that day.

Remember J+H and their dreamy cotton field portraits?  Their portraits were featured on one of my favorite blogs -A Lowcountry Wedding !

A Lowcountry Wedding is full of southern fed inspiration – so if you are in the wedding planning process, or heck, even if you just like to see pretty things you should subscribe to her blog.  Go take a peek anyways!

The husbands Aunts came to town this weekend and stayed with us, so we thought it would be nice to wait for them to get here to put up the tree!  We put the tree up while listening to christmas tunes and baking cookies!  The Aunts decided that we needed some more filler ornaments and they were going to get us some – so of course we were happy to oblige!  We decorate in champagne golds and mercury glass, so we bought some small gold balls to add to the tree along with this beige textured tree skirt – very pretty additions to what we already had!  I think everyone adds a couple of decorating pieces every year am I right?

Here is a sneak for The M’s maternity portraits!

Some days (most all days) I don’t have time to sit and eat a leisurely lunch.  I need something fast, and easy to eat at my desk while I do other things- a multitaskers lunch!  And here lately with the weather getting colder give me something warm while you’re at it!  This isn’t the most nutritional of lunches-but its not the worst in the world either!

I have been seeing a lot of these little bags lately!  Orville Redenbachers has little mini bags that hold a single serving!  They are so cute.  I just sprinkle some parmesan cheese over top, grab a handful, munch, and keep on editing photos!

Just sharing a photo of my well documented addiction.  This one was a gingerbread latte.  None fat, no whip.  Gotta shave those calories off ya know?

I have had such fun times with this family – and was so excited to meet their sweet baby only days after his birth!  He seemed ready for me with a “Don’t you even dare think about getting me to sleep!” attitude!  He did finally conk out for a little while though – just long enough for me to get a few adorable shots of him curled up on his tummy.

I LOVE textures!  Give me an old worn barn, a rusty metal staircase, or a gritty brick wall anytime over a studio backdrop!  All of these things add so much visual interest to your photographs!  AND it is so fun to get out there and explore to find these settings!

This door is in my own backyard – on our shed!  Anytime I want to have a photograph of me or my husband for whatever reason, we just go to the backyard in front of this door oftentimes.  In fact, the new picture of myself in the “Ingredients” section on the site is right here in front of this door!

Don’t forget to be prepared for your holiday cards!  Book your holiday mini session soon so that your holiday cards will be back and ready to mail out in time!
